(P(I)) Esamir Elections Act

Hello Members of Parliament, I would like to introduce my bill to you all.

The Esamir Elections Act is an act that would make our regional elections run smoothly. Last time, things were complicated and disorganized, so hopefully this will create a clear standard that we can all follow.

If passed, this act would do the following things

• Set the voting period for elections for the 5 days following the end of the term periods
  
  
• Require political parties to post a party list sometime before elections begin
  
  
• Set fixed Parliamentary and Executive term periods (current term period ends on Jan. 1st)
  For example, the next 3 terms would be from:
  (Jan. 6 2015 - Apr 6 2015)
  (Apr 11 2015 - Jul 11 2015)
  (Jul 17 2015 - Oct 17 2015)
  Elections would be held in the 5 days between the terms
  
  
• Give the Chief Justice the sole responsibility of tallying and announcing the results of the elections by the first day of the new term

I approve of this. We haven't really had a set time for when I should start the elections, and this will really help that.

Given that this proposal requires that we move the proceedings as quickly as possible in order to be finished by January 1, 2015, this debate term will end on December 28, 2015 at 00:00 UTC (+/- two hours). The voting session will begin immediately afterwards, ending at 00:00 UTC on January 1, 2015.

I agree this proposal seems good.
But just to be clear if NTs proposal for new government and creation of UNE passes, this proposal will have to be revised.

Voting ends at 12:00am on January 1st 2015 and right now the bill is on track to being passed.

The "Esamir Elections Act" has been given approval by Parliament and shall go into effect immediately as the Chancellor did not choose to veto this proposal. The Speaker thanks Parliament for its time and participation.
