MEISJEGRONDEN HIT BY EARTHQUAKE
Hundreds of deaths in Groenestadt
The recent earthquake which hits New-Zealand, Eurasia, Tokugawa and Talanzaar is without doubts one of the most massive catastrophes of the last century. And it did not spare the Grand Duchy of Meisjegronden.
From Groenestadt, the capital city, news are reaching New Tarajan of a massive toll in damages and deads. The
Imperial Emergency Relief Agency (IMERA) announced in a press conference that, following the most recent informations, the death toll is around 2000, with at least 600 casualties only in the capital city itself.
No estimation has been done yet about the material costs of the earthquake.
"We have been lucky" commented Governor General and former Tarajani PM Duke Van Sondenburg-Sorenberg:
"Meisjegronden has not been taken hit like New-Zealand and Eurasia." he said.
Still,
"the death toll and the damages occurred are massive. But the people of the Grand Duchy is strong. We will recover."The Landsraad already voted for the sending of a massive relief mission this evening in a special session: OMNI Enforcer will provide men and materials, together with logistic support, under the coordination of IMERA.
Actually, the bases in Meisjegronden are already providing all the aid possible, while waiting for the arrival of the first transports from New Tarajan.
The RHIELD is also deploying one of its skycarriers in loco.

3rd Fleet in Eurasia; 4th Fleet en route to Tokugawa
In the meanwhile, the Empire is mobilitating to aid also all other affected countries.
While the IMERA is sending, through transport planes of the military, many volunteers in New-Zealand, waiting for the full mobilization of the 6th Fleet, which received the mission to reach Auckland, the 3rd Fleet of OMNI Enforcer is already in Eurasia.
The fleet was operating outside Meisjegronden, for a three-days training mission, while it received then news of the earthquake and the massive damages it provoked in Eurasia. Thus, Admiral Count Albert Van Wittel immediately ordered the suspension of the mission and organized the rescue mission, entering Eurasian territorial waters under permission of the local authorities. Although obviously not equipped for such a massive relief operation, the crews of the fleet did their best in doing police duties and helping the local volunteers. The fleet is now receiving full support from OMNI HQ, and will carry on with the relief operation until the situation will be finally stabilized.
Meanwhile, the 4th Fleet, also stationed in Meisjegronden, has received the order to proceed to Tokugawa, in order to give them all the necessary aid.
The four operations (including the one in Meisjegronden) have been put under the authority of the IMERA, which will be the link between the forces in loco and the Imperial Council.
A full-scale relief operation, then: such a thing has never been made by New Tarajan before and, probably, by no country at all.
But, as Prime Minister Van De Groot said announcing the beginning of the efforts:
"In front of such a catastrophe, as human being, we cannot stay aside. Meisjegronden has been hit, but also many other countries. It is our duty, as a country, as a people, to aid them with all our forces."Many analysts underlined the fact that the operation has been directed to aid any country hit by the eartquake, not matter its affiliation to SECURS or UPS. A great demonstration of humanity and impartiality, many say; but also, far more probably, the last sign that Astana still wishes to recover the previous stability and order in the International Community.
