A revelation the shocks the entire country

The NZDF has announced that it will, for the second time in history, commission an "Overwatch" campaign. The Overwatch campaign was first used during the Ienaran Conflict and received critical acclaim for it's quick results. While the Overwatch formation provides fast results, the NZDF has been hesitant to use it due to the sheer cost of running the operation. "Overwatch" is a collective of 19 AC-130 Hellfire and 6 AC-130 Ghostrider planes. All of which will patrol active war zones and provide artillery support from the air. Their vantage point above the clouds, coupled with their high definition IR camera's allow the gun operators to launch a devastating barrage of precise artillery strikes on enemy targets. Currently, the Overwatch Squadrons are incapable of entering District 6 due to the EMP towers, but the NZDF has announced that it has a plan in motion that will see the EMP towers disabled in the near future. For now, Overwatch remains in the Republic controlled districts and has been tasked with defending the borders and taking the pressure of the Allied Forces, who are now focussed on preparing for the next push into District 6, and hopefully the beginning of a downward spiral for loyalist forces. 

The extremely specialised NZSIS "Havok Squad" forces, regarded as among the the most elite squads in the world, has managed to permanently disable all but the two southern most EMP towers in District 6. Members of Havok Squad undertook a daring mission behind enemy lines last night, and snuck in under the cover of darkness to infiltrate the EMP Compounds and disable the facilities. Whilst the mission was for most part a success, the operation to disable Tower 6 went wrong, and Havok Squad had it's cover blown, resulting in a facility technician managing to activate the panic alarm, alerting the other compounds. Thankfully Overwatch Squadron B had moved in to the area where the EMP towers had been disabled and managed to take a shot straight at the remaining two towers, permanently disabling the facilities. Havok Squad suffered no losses in this mission, however one member did require a MedEVAC, presumably this was the soldier who had his cover blown. 

The disabling of the EMP towers now means the Allied Forces have the ability to push through into District 6 with full technological support and resume their path south to the Capitol. Havok Squad, while messing up near the end, are being praised for their efforts, and Overwatch Squadron B are being praised for their quick thinking, which resulted in them finishing the last leg of the relay for Havok Squad. All in all, the mission was a resounding success, and the battle for Caelux is once again in motion, with reinforcements expected to have arrived and suited up by 0500, allowing the Allied Forces to begin their push at dawn. Overwatch Squadron A through D have refuelled and are prepped for combat, and Squadron E through G have gone ahead and scouted out District 6 whilst clearing out any visible enemy forces. E,F and G are expected to return to base just after dawn, where they will refuel and proceed to tag in and out with other Overwatch Planes in the battlefield. 

Revenge began: with these words we could summarize the great offensive movement that is being conducted on District 6,a massive operation of invasion that has already received huge success. It is one of the biggest operations ever conducted by the European Armed Forces in the recent history of Europe. The attack began a few hours ago,and has quickly bent the strength of the enemy,being able to easily break through the defensive lines with a powerful shock wave, forcing the enemy to a hasty retreat, soon turned into a rout. The few pockets of resistance were neutralized with a relatively low effort, while entire loyalist units,taken by surprise,they just surrendered to European and Allied forces. The advance continues apace, while the works of stabilization of the territory does not face particular problems. Allied losses remain very low, the same can not be said for the enemies.

Attended to the invasion most of the European units,including reinforcements arrived a few days ago: also,at the specific request of the soldiers,who refused deserved rest,eager to avenge the fallen comrades in the District 6,are participating in the attack all units defeated in the first battle. This obviously redeem their honor,highlights the value and the heroism of the European soldiers,the few and the prouds,and,more importantly,will bring justice to the fallen by the hand of the cowards loyalists.

It must be said that the initial military force with which the enemies have launched a counter-attack a few days ago is badly weakened. In fact for days they tried to break over the northern borders of the District 6,at the cost of heavy losses,with no result. The powerful Allied and European defensive network,has stood up well to attacks,and,in particular with a tight artillery fire and with several air raids,held loyalists constantly under fire,putting a strain their resistance. Also a continuous duel on airspace of District 6,between loyalist air units against European and Allied air forces,has severely weakened enemy air power. Another factor that favored the rapid Allied advance is,in addition to the numerical superiority,a strong technological superiority (reinstated after the destruction of the EMP towers),the better training of Allied soldiers,and superior firepower. Finally,we must remember that the enemies have never consolidated control over the District,as the guerrilla and asymmetric warfare actions,conducted by rebel groups and Allied of European units remained behind the lines,have consistently weakened the loyalist military and logistical potential.

But let's get to the strategy. It is based on a force composed of highly flexible,largely mechanized and provided with high mobility units,consisting of well-trained well-capable soldiers. The operational plans focuses on the clear technological superiority and on the greater firepower respect to enemy forces,also give great importance to air superiority and artillery support. The strike force,coming from several directions (then hitting loyalists on front and on sides),using tank and armored cavalry divisions as spearhead,taking advantage of the great potential of gunships and attack helicopters,then impacted against the enemy defense lines,surpassing and destroying them one after the other: the enemy forces then,impressed by the advance that does not stop,was forced to a disorderly retreat. The enemy,of course,at the same time had to withstand the effects of long-range artillery fire,as well as the precise and devastating air raids. The units have provided support for the invasion not only with tactical bombing and close air support,but also with actions of command and control,with AWACS aircrafts,as well as with surveillance,reconnaissance and intelligence operations,in particular with stealth drones,and with logistical support. Behind the battle front,European and allied forces have taken steps to neutralize the last loyalist resistance,and to strengthen the logistical supply lines to sustain the operations of attack.

Official sources,meanwhile,cited the start of a massive campaign of air strikes,operated by the squadrons of the European Air Force and by Allied units,over areas controlled by loyalists,with the dual goal of getting the total air superiority and bend permanently enemy resistance. Although the operations are undertaken only by a few hours,the attacks,carried out with precision,speed and efficiency,have already caused devastating damage to the military forces of the regime. Also,for the first time the capital,Caelux,has been affected by heavy bombing.

The priority is,first of all,the complete annihilation of the enemy air forces remained,in order to have total control over the airspace. So are being affected major infrastructure nodes and supply lines,to destroy the logistics system,the main defensive structures,as fortifications,radar networks,artillery positions,besides other objectives considered strategic,such as control points,deposits,power plants,telecommunications infrastructures and energy distribution networks. However,civilian casualties and collateral damages will not be tolerated in any way: the attacks must be conducted with surgical precision,without endangering innocent lives.

European Navy sources indicate finally the increase and the maximization of raids against coastal fortifications on the south coast,after the completion of the reinforcement of the European naval contingent. Indeed,naval attacks go on unabated since weeks and,despite the regime has lost all naval force,only now the formidable defense system begins to show signs of slowing. To be emphasized,the vast majority of the Atanosian ships have defected from the regime and indeed,now involved in the operation of attack against it. The rocket attacks from the fleet (in particular from frigates,destroyers and submarines) have begun to target the infrastructure in the hinterland,and the first European missiles have hit the capitol. Finally,the European aircraft carriers have increased their importance as bases for air strike operations in the south of the country.

The allied forces are braving the fires of burning forest as their commanders have made the unanimous decision that the waiting for the fire to burn out was simply not possible as the longer the Allies wait, the stronger the loyalist forces grow. As a result, this morning the first regiments set out across the alpine highway (pictured above), escorted by specialist fire fighting planes (also pictured above) and numerous fire fighter brigades, who worked around the clock to ensure the road was kept relatively safe for the forces to cross. Whilst the vast majority of the forces made it across the alpine highway virtually unharmed, there were a few instances of heat strokes as some soldiers were unable to bear the temperatures, which at points peaked at 52 Degrees Celsius. However, these soldiers were promptly place in air conditioned transport vehicles, and are expected to make a full recovery by the end of the week. 

It took just over 33 hours, but all the invading forces have made it across the alpine highway and are regrouping in District 7 for a well earned nights rest, many of the forces have been awake for over 24 hours, and have faced extreme temperatures and conditions. At dawn, after an estimated 14 hours rest for the forces, the Allies plan to begin their final push to the capitol. From here on out, the forces, will follow the Panem State Expressway and head directly to the capitol using the main road network. The ETA at the border of the Capitol is less than a day away, a direct result of the Allies ability to use the road network to transport all their forces and equipment. Throughout the journey, the convoy (which stretches 2 miles from front to back) will be escorted by a round the clock squadron of air force jets and, you guessed it, Overwatch AC-130s. For the first time since the liberation of District 9, all the allied forces are together, rather than split up on independent missions. The soldiers have been through a lot, the government have spent a lot, and the war has taken a lot of lives. It's the home stretch now, and the allies are finally moving into position and taking the fight to Snow. Judgement day for Panem is near, and the loyalists will atone for their crimes, and the fallen will be avenged by their brethren. But even now, many are not sure the end is near, worrying reports are surfacing of a large ultra-nationalist royalist underground movement, led by a decendent of the Atenosian Royals that plans on exploiting the power void that will form from the collapse of the Snow Administration to overthrow the shaky democratic government and reinstate the Atenosian Empire. For now though, we'll deal with one issue at a time. Right now, the allies are focused on ending the Snow Regime.
